Kumari Dissanayake set a new national marathon record of 2:26:41 at the Colombo International Marathon on Sunday, beating the previous mark by 94 seconds.
The 29-year-old controlled the race from the halfway point and finished more than a minute clear of the field. She confirmed the performance secures her qualification for next year's continental championships.
