The government has announced a five-year national infrastructure plan focused on renewable energy, transport and water management. Officials said the programme would create an estimated 60,000 direct jobs.
The plan allocates the largest share of funding to a modernised railway corridor connecting the capital with regional economic hubs. A quarter of the budget is reserved for solar and wind projects intended to lift renewable generation above 40 percent of the national mix.
Economists broadly welcomed the announcement but cautioned that transparent procurement will be critical to keeping the projects on schedule.
